This section presents the quarterly averages (trimester) for trading volume, market capitalization and trading price for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Trading Volume & Market Capitalization
For example, EOS had an average trading volume of nearly US$ 1.2 bn per day for the first trimester of 2019. Over the same time frame in the previous year, this figure came to nearly US$ 732 m. The corresponding increase in trading volume equated to 62.2 percent.
For the first trimester of 2019, the average market capitalization was over US$ 2.8 bn. This figure came to nearly US$ 6.1 bn during the same time frame in the previous year. The corresponding drop down in market capitalization equated to 53.5 percent.
Trading Price
The average trading price during the first trimester of 2019 equated to just under US$ 3.19. In the same period of 2018, this figure came to nearly US$ 9.9. The price dropped accordingly by 67.6 percent.
The all-time high of EOS in 2018
The price of the EOS currency reached a high in April 2018 at just under US$ 22.9. The equivalent market capitalization of the coin reached nearly US$ 17.8 billion. EOS was an outlier here.
EOSs all-time high compared to Bitcoin and the most renowned companies worldwide
Bitcoin, by far the largest cryptocurrency at the time, had a market capitalization of US$ 160 billion on that day. Apple Inc., one of the most highly valued brands in the world, stood at US$ 824 billion. And Volkswagen AG, the world’s largest vehicle manufacturer as of 2018, at US$ 103 billion.

March 2019: an interesting date following the big cryptocurrency crash
On 1 March 2019, the price of EOS stood at US$ 3.69 with a market capitalization of nearly US$ 3.2 billion. This is a drop down to approximately 16.1 percent compared with the highest trading price described above.
Bitcoin dropped down to approximately 19.5 and Ethereum to about 9.7 percent of their all-time-high trading prices around that time.

The EOS-Coin is not generated via mining. It has no maximum number of coins, unlike Litecoin, for example. Those interested in the source code should also take a look at the GitHub page.
