The Litecoin currency climbed to a high in December 2017 at nearly US$ 380. At this trading price, the coin reached a market capitalization of over nineteen billion US dollars. This put Litecoin around certain other digital currencies, such as IOTA.

Bitcoin, by far the largest cryptocurrency at the time, had a market capitalization of US$ 298 billion on that day. Apple Inc., one of the most highly valued brands in the world, stood at US$ 902 billion. And Volkswagen AG, the world’s largest vehicle manufacturer as of 2018, at US$ 103 billion.

On 1 March 2019, the price of Litecoin stood at just under US$ 49.0 with a market capitalization of nearly US$ 2.9 billion. In comparison with the highest trading price described above, this represents a drop down to approximately 13.1 percent.
Around that time, Ethereum dropped to about 9.7 and Bitcoin to approximately 19.5 percent of their all-time-high trading prices.
