PIVX was introduced by the user s3v3nh4cks at bitcointalk.org on 25 November 2015. The tracking of real-time trading data by coinmarketcap.com subsequently began in March 2016.

March 2019: an interesting date following the big cryptocurrency crash

On 1 March 2019, the price of PIVX stood at just under US$ 0.77 with a market capitalization of over US$ 43 million. In comparison with the peak trading price described above, this represents a drop down to approximately 5.3 percent.

Around that time, Ethereum dropped to about 9.7 and Bitcoin to approximately 19.5 percent of their all-time-high trading prices.
